Tasks

Tasks are the trackable deliverables within a client engagement. They keep your team aligned on what needs to get done, by when, and in what order.

Creating a task

Tasks are always scoped to a client. From a client detail page, click New Task and fill in:

  • Title — a clear, action-oriented description (e.g. "Draft Q3 marketing strategy")
  • Due date — when the task should be completed
  • Assigned to — the team member responsible for the task
  • Importance / Urgency — 1–5 scale used for prioritization
  • Estimated minutes — optional time estimate for planning

Task status

Tasks flow through four statuses:

  • Open — not yet started
  • In Progress — actively being worked on
  • Blocked — waiting on something else to complete first
  • Done — completed

Update status from the task detail view or from the kanban-style task list on the client detail page.

Blocked tasks and dependencies

A task can be blocked on another task within the same client. When a task is blocked, it shows a dependency indicator and will not appear in the active work queue until its blocker is resolved.

When you mark the blocking task as Done, the dependent task automatically becomes available (moves to open). If a blocked_days_offset is set, the due date is automatically recalculated based on the completion date of the blocker.

Task notes

Add notes to a task to record progress, decisions, or context. Notes are timestamped and attributed to the team member who created them. They're visible to any team member with access to the client.

Use Task Bundles to create a set of tasks from a reusable template — great for standardizing client onboarding or recurring deliverable sets.
